Hachig Kazarian and his Ensemble

SIDE ONE:

  1. GOVAND (Instrumental) — Clarinet Solo: H. Kazarian. An energetic dance in 4/4 meter originally performed by male dancers only.

  2. HARS YEM PE’ROOM — Vocal: S. Karougian. The song of a proud groom who brings his eighteen year old bride to the home of his father. He sings of his affection for her and asks that their love for each other be blessed.

  3. TOMZARA (Instrumental) — A dance in 9/8 tempo.

  4. PAROV YEGAR SIROON YAR — Vocal: E. Arvanigian. A love song in which a young man welcomes the love of his sweetheart, and tells her how long he has waited for her.

  5. DALDALA — SATCHMÉ (Instrumental) — A combination of two different dance steps and tempos. The tempos consist first of a 5/4 meter and then a 9/8 meter.

  6. AGHCHEEGON YERIDASART — Vocal: E. Arvanigian. A song of jest. The daughter gets a husband, the mother gets a son-in-law and jewelry but the father gets only head-aches.

SIDE TWO:

  1. SONON YELOV — Vocal: E. Arvanigian. The song of a grieving lover whose sweetheart has left him.

  2. OUD FANTASY (Instrumental) — Oud Solo: J. Berberian. A very inspiring and driving selection, performed on a 12-stringed instrument called an oud. This instrument is the “Grand Daddy” to the guitar.

  3. SIRETZEE YARUS DAR-ON — Vocal: S. Karougian. “I loved her but they took her away from me.” The song of a lonely man yearning for a loved one.

  4. MEDLEY (Instrumental) — A. Naz Bar; B. Aree Balas; C. Yar Vor Jan Eem

  5. KALAMATIANO (Instrumental) — A traditional near-eastern melody set to a 7/8 meter.

  6. MISIRLOU (Instrumental) — The ever popular song Misirlou, which has an origin stemming from the Greek, Armenian and Arabic cultures.

Hachig Kazarian is one of the well known Armenian musicians in this country. He has performed throughout the United States and Canada. His musical knowledge and talents are not only evident in Armenian or Near Eastern music, but also in the classical field. In connection with this latter activity he presently attends the Julliard School of Music.
