Happy is the word for this outing by Julius La Rosa. Happy in love and happy to shout it out in song. This is what Julie sings about and with Nick Perito and his Orchestra laying down the beat he never lets you forget the joyousness of this set. There is an unrestrained youthfulness and zing in the way Julie goes after songs such as “FINE ROMANCE,” “YES SIR, THAT’S MY BABY” and “S’WONDERFUL.” There is a happy-go-lucky, glad-to-be-alive-and-in-love feeling he exudes when he offers “SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN,” “YOU MUST HAVE BEEN A BEAUTIFUL BABY” and “AREN’T YOU GLAD YOU’RE YOU.”

This is Julius La Rosa at his snappiest, swingingest best. This is Julius La Rosa—charming, bubbling with exuberance, full of mad romance and love. There isn’t a moment here where there is a let down. Julie stays on cloud nine and instead of getting off, his singing puts you on that same cloud with him.

Nick Perito’s arrangements and his Orchestra fit the ebullient mood like the laughter of anyone that is having a wonderful ball. He too never lets up and the overall effect is sheer dynamic musicianship.

Julie had a good time making this album and you can tell. He lets you know it. He never forces, he is never rushed, he is at all times completely relaxed and obviously enjoying every note of every song. His rhythm is flawless and his respect for the lyrics, despite the fun he is having, is always faithful to the lyricists’ concept and meaning of the song!
