Stardust

FOR THIS exciting collection of American melodies, Andre Kostelanetz has assembled nine wonderful songs which are suavely romantic and delightfully appealing. By playing these songs in his own incomparable and brilliant style, Andre Kostelanetz is doing his notable bit towards bringing the lovely tunes the popularity they so richly deserve.

A supremely successful pioneer in effective use of striking recording and broadcasting techniques, Mr. Kostelanetz has employed in Stardust some truly original and dazzling effects that add lustre and warmth to the music he is playing.

The songs Mr. Kostelanetz has selected for this collection are definitely in the romantic vein, from Hoagy Carmichael’s flavorsome Stardust to Richard Rodgers’ ecstatic Wait Till You See Her from By Jupiter.

Between these two fine songs come seven other musical delights. There are One Morning in May, also by Hoagy Carmichael, and Autumn in New York, a song by Vernon Duke, composer of April in Paris among other well-known songs, from the revue Thumbs Up that was produced on Broadway in 1934 and that had in its cast such luminaries as Bobby Clark, Eddie Dowling and the Pickens Sisters.

Also included are the Hugh Martin–Ralph Blane The Boy Next Door from one of the most attractive of all film musicals, Meet Me In St. Louis, starring Judy Garland, and Love, the song Martin and Blane wrote for the film Ziegfeld Follies, and the haunting These Foolish Things by Jack Strachey and Harry Link.

Concluding the list of songs contained in this collection are I’ll Remember April by Don Raye, Gene De Paul and Pat Johnson, and Heinz Provost’s deeply appealing Intermezzo from the film of that same name starring Ingrid Bergman and the late Leslie Howard.
